On 27 November 2023, the EU Commission has extended the current EU\u2019s Generalised Scheme of Preferences (the so-called \u2018GSP\u2019 scheme) regulation until the end of 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This GSP scheme of customs duty preferences removes EU import duties for products released for free circulation in the EU, originating in vulnerable developing countries, and has been a success for many years.<\/p>\n

By removing such import duties, the EU\u2019s\u00a0GSP is the EU\u2019s main unilateral trade policy to support vulnerable developing countries\u2019 exports to the EU.<\/p>\n

The principle of GSP was agreed at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and is a facility granted to developing countries (\u00ab\u00a0beneficiary countries\u00a0\u00bb) by certain developed countries (\u00ab\u00a0donor countries\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n
